West Carolina and Upcountry Fiber Launch 4th Annual “Give Big” Holiday Food Drive

West Carolina and Upcountry Fiber have officially kicked off their fourth annual “Give Big” Holiday Food Drive, continuing a beloved tradition dedicated to fighting hunger and supporting local families during the holiday season.

Last year’s campaign collected more than five tons of food thanks to the generosity of West Carolina and Upcountry Fiber customers and employees. The donations were distributed throughout the communities they serve, helping provide meals and relief to neighbors recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene.

“Every year, the Give Big Food Drive reminds us what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Chris Townson, CEO of West Carolina. “This year, the need is just as great, maybe even greater. With the recent suspension of SNAP benefits, too many families are struggling to keep food on the table. West Carolina is proud to stand with our communities to help meet that need.”

Throughout November, customers who donate at least three unexpired, nonperishable food items at any West Carolina or Upcountry Fiber office will receive a free internet speed boost for an entire year. Customers already on gig or multi-gig service will receive a special thank-you gift in appreciation for their generosity.

“Each year, our Give Big Food Drive makes a real difference, but this year, that difference could mean everything for some families,” Townson said. “We all know someone who’s had a tough year. This is our chance to step up, lend a hand, and make sure no one in our community goes hungry this holiday season.”

Local food banks and organizations benefiting from this year’s drive include:

  • UCMAC
  • Food Bank of Greenwood County
  • Greenwood Veteran’s Center
  • Iva Food Bank (First Baptist Church of Iva)
  • McCormick Helping Hands
  • Newberry Living Hope Center
  • Golden Corner Food Pantry
  • The Storehouse

“I’m honored to be part of my first Give Big Holiday Food Drive here at West Carolina,” Townson said. “The heart this community shows for helping others is incredible. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together this year.”

Join West Carolina and Upcountry Fiber in giving back this holiday season and help bring hope to tables across our communities.
