West Carolina Donates $117,000 to Support STEM Robotics Center

West Carolina has strengthened its long-standing support of the Due West Robotics team with a major contribution toward their newest and most ambitious project. The company has donated $117,000 to help fund the development of the team’s new STEM Robotics Center, a facility that promises to inspire students and fuel innovation for years to come.

The donation was presented on Dec. 10 and marks a significant step forward in bringing the center to life. The project has already generated excitement throughout the community and reflects the team’s dedication to advancing hands-on STEM education in the region.

“We believe investing where it matters most – in our students and the future of this community,” said Chris Townson, CEO of West Carolina. “Supporting Due West Robotics is about opening doors and helping young people build skills that will serve them for a lifetime.”

Community support has been the driving force behind the effort. Volunteers have donated countless hours to assist with construction, helping to reduce costs. Additional donors across the area have contributed sizable donations, underscoring the shared commitment to the robotics program’s growth.

“Other organizations ask me how we are doing this,” said Charles Angel, President of Due West Robotics. “It takes the support of a community like we have. We couldn’t do this without everyone involved.”

West Carolina is proud to stand alongside Due West Robotics and the many community partners working together to make the STEM Robotics Center a reality.
