WCTEL and WCFIBER Unite Under the West Carolina Brand

WCTEL and WCFIBER Unite Under the West Carolina Brand

Abbeville, SC — WCTEL proudly announces its rebranding to West Carolina, uniting its
cooperative and expansion areas under a single, cohesive identity.

The integration of WCTEL and its expansion arm, WCFIBER, marks a milestone for both
organizations. WCFIBER serves parts of Greenwood County, SC, the city of Newberry, parts of
Columbia County, GA, and parts of Anderson County. With this brand launch, WCFIBER will now
join WCTEL under the West Carolina name.

Jeff Wilson, West Carolina’s CEO says the new brand reflects significant research, customer and
member focus groups, and employee interviews. “We intentionally removed “Fiber” and
“Telephone” from our name,” Wilson says. “This change reflects our belief that West Carolina
represents more than just our products or services—it embodies our community, our people, and
our shared dedication to making a meaningful impact.”

Wilson also notes that, while WCTEL and WCFIBER are unified under one brand, their business
structure remains the same. “Both organizations will maintain their legal identities, we still have
our cooperative members; that will never change. This brand, however, eliminates confusion and
unites us under one name.”

A Legacy of Service

Founded in 1952, West Carolina has been a pillar in delivering high-speed fiber internet, phone,
and TV services to Abbeville County, McCormick County, and the cities of Iva and Starr in
Anderson County. As a member-owned cooperative, West Carolina is dedicated to the growth
and well-being of its communities. The cooperative’s commitment is evident in its investments in
advanced technologies, such as fiber broadband, and its numerous charitable initiatives,
including high school scholarships, fundraisers, and food drives.

Unified Mission

Since its inception, WCFIBER has shared the same high standards of service, staff, and
community focus as WCTEL. The new unified brand, West Carolina, encapsulates their shared
mission of connecting people to what they love.

“From the beginning, West Carolina has been about enhancing the communities we serve. As a
cooperative, we are member-owned and community-driven. Our mission has always been to
improve the quality of life for our members. Our new brand is a testament to this unwavering
focus and commitment. We’re not just another internet provider serving West Carolina—we ARE
West Carolina.”

Continued Partnerships

Upcountry Fiber, a partnership between West Carolina and Blue Ridge Electric, will continue to
deliver fiber broadband to Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties
under the Upcountry Fiber name.
