West Carolina announces third annual “Give Big, Get Gig” giving campaign
West Carolina, together with its members and customers, are once again preparing to “Give Big” this November.
The annual campaign invites customers to drop off at least three unexpired, nonperishable food items to any West Carolina office during the month of November, and in return, customers will receive a free speed boost to 1 Gig throughout December. Current Gig customers will receive a special gift in lieu of the speed boost.
Last year’s campaign resulted in more than 4 tons of nonperishable food items collected and disseminated across its service territory.
While the demand for food banks typically rise during the holiday season, this year the need is even greater.
“Hurricane Helene’s widespread damage resulted in a strain on our food pantries. This year, more than ever, we have an opportunity to collectively help,” says West Carolina CEO Jeff Wilson.
The speed increase will arrive at the perfect time for the holidays, during a time of heavy internet usage. “We see a lot of Christmas movie streaming marathons, video calls, and new WiFi-enabled devices,” says West Carolina Director of Commercial Operations Shannon Sears.
Benefitting food banks and organizations:
- UCMAC (Abbeville)
- Bags of Blessings (Abbeville)
- First Baptist Church (Iva)
- Helping Hands (McCormick)
- Food Bank of Greenwood County
- Greenwood Veterans Center
- Living Hope Foundation Food Pantry (Newberry)
Collection bins will be placed in the lobbies of West Carolina offices beginning Nov. 1 throughout the entire month. The drive will conclude Nov. 30, and customers will receive the speed increase on Dec. 1.
