Abbeville, SC – West Carolina recently provided two donations to the advance Abbeville Scouts’ ongoing efforts to support and development area youth.
West Carolina’s support included $500 to provide internet access at the “Scout Hut.” This connectivity will enable the scouts to broaden their knowledge and access valuable resources online.
Additionally, West Carolina donated $2,000 to support their upcoming trip to New Mexico to participate in the Philmont Scout Ranch’s nine-day backpacking adventure. As the Boy Scouts of America’s largest National High-Adventure Base, Philmont’s experience guides Scouts through daily hikes to new destinations, where they will engage in various scout-related activities.
“Receiving donations like this one has a tremendous impact on our scouts” says Dr. Moore. “This trip is far more expensive than they could individually on their own. This generous contribution allows their time to be devoted towards local service projects rather than selling popcorn. This will help guide our young men towards a life of dedication to a community without a focus of pure financial motivation.”
